If you look and act like you’ve got it all figured out, but deep inside you’re just stressed out,

I’m here for you, my friend.

I serve struggling Messy Miracles by peeling back my own mask to give an honest, inside look at my dragons (anxiety, stress, perfectionism, people pleasing (among others), while also providing practical tools and tips to help other women and girls navigate this “brutiful” life.

My ever-evolving story is living proof that it is totally possible to turn your pain into purpose and to be still amid the chaos of life. And by the way, it’s a big, fat lie that you have to “keep it all together” or “figure it all out.” That’s not your job at all. Ask me how I know…

The Cost of “Keeping It Together.”

Once upon a time, I spent my life achieving, controlling, and plowing through challenges to prove my worth.  I was the quintessential first born – a perfectionist, over-achieving, people-pleaser.

I got straight As in school. Was hired for every job I wanted. Climbed the corporate ladder. Married the handsome man. Had the darling daughters. Decorated the beautiful home. Volunteered for ALL THE THINGS and appeared to do it all wonderfully and perfectly. I was the girl with the golden touch. The one you love to hate.

Those strengths served me well and were also my undoing. At the age of 37, daily panic attacks slayed me & I began to withdraw from life.

Never Alone.

And so began a long winter of my soul. I kissed my husband and young girls goodbye, stepped out of the car and into a treatment center for an evaluation. With a diagnosis of generalized anxiety disorder, I spent a lot of time on the bathroom floor and reached out to truly grasp my Savior’s hand for the first time.

I felt Him whisper, “Do you want to feel peace and joy again?  You can’t work your way out of this one on your own.  Be Still and Know that I am God.”

Then I did something crazy. I started sharing my mess instead of covering it up.

Some people said, “I never would have guessed.” “You seem so perfect.” “You’re the most patient and peaceful person I know.”

But more often, they said:
“Me, too.” “It’s nice to know I’m not the only one.” “Thank you for understanding and telling the world.”
